Budget 2025: A Bad Day for Business Rate Payers

The Autumn 2025 Budget has introduced what most are calling a “stealth tax” on many businesses, despite the government’s rhetoric of supporting the high street.

Whilst an extremely minute number of retail, hospitality, and leisure businesses, may, benefit from the lower rate that was announced for smaller retail, hospitality, and leisure (RHL) properties, this is being funded by an increased tax burden on larger properties, including the larger retailers, pubs, hotels, restaurants and specifically larger industrial type units, like workshops and factories being used by essential manufacturers, and warehouses being used by online retailers.

FOR MOST ORGANISATIONS THE REALITY IS CLEAR:

“THE BUDGET GIVES WITH ONE HAND AND TAKES WITH THE OTHER!”
